See below advice from Anton regarding the questionnaire.

I have attached the 'questionnaire pack' he mentions to save you navigating
the CLP website!

Hi Justin,

I was just about to ask you about your questionnaire.

You can download a questionnaire pack from the www.clp-se.org.uk under the
tab for step 4.

This has some sample questionnaires and helpful hints from other communities
who have written questionnaires.

"Designing and Producing Questionnaires within an action plan": Introduces
the types of questions you can ask

"Notes on Parish Plan Questionnaires": gives you some handy hints from other
communities that have produced questionnaires.

I see that Anne Richardson has also sent you some information on how SODC
can support you with their SNAP service.

Once you have your first draft feel free to send it to me and I will be
happy to send you some ideas and tips, normally within a few days. I am also
happy to come and talk through some of the questions with you if you think
that will help.

Don't be too critical of your first draft (that's my job ;). Instead try
asking yourself why you are asking each question and if that reason is
obvious to the respondent. Then ask yourself what you will do with the
answer. If you are unsure about either of these then change the question.

Remember sophistication comes in the analysis and not in the question. Keep
the questions simple and short, using plain English that your mum would
understand. You can have an introductory statement if you want to help set
the scene but keep the questions simple.

You may want to research some of the questions with the relevant agency
staff. This will inevitably affect the question you finally end up asking.
Don't be afraid to quote the agency response in your introductory statement.

AVOID JARGON!

Think about how you will deliver and collect the questionnaires. Remember
some respondents will need a little help to complete it. Think about
training a small team of collectors who are willing to return multiple times
as this will greatly increase your return rate. Don't forget to advertise
heavily before and during your questionnaire fortnight. A-Boards at the side
of the road work wonders for this.

Consider including a volunteer sheet at the end of your questionnaire, which
can double-up as your prize draw coupon if you want. It's separated from the
main questionnaire to maintain anonymity. You will be amazed at how many
people want to help out with specific activates and are just waiting to be
asked. Don't forget to ask for their email address so you can contact them
later.

If you have any questions on any of this, I am always available at the end
of the phone.

Regards,

Dear Anton,

Our Culham Community Group met last night and we are getting closer to
drafting our questionnaire. What help is available to assist us in creating
a well written questionnaire?

Kind regards

Justin Denno
